UNTITLEDrubber Aims to Make a Name For Itself

      news.movim.eu / Latex247 • 30 July, 2024 • 6 minutes

The creation of Netherlands based latex brand UNTITLEDrubber has, at times, been a difficult journey. But, with many years of soul searching and internal discovery, it has ultimately been a rewarding experience for owner Ivo Mittelmeijer. We sat down with him recently to talk through this insightful journey.

Did you know that Latex24/7 has its very own YouTube channel? Subscribe now for instant access to upcoming shiny latex clothing content.

The genesis of the brand occurred back in November 2019 when Ivo caught up with a close friend from Sweden. At the time, Ivo was “inspired by their conversation about the pursuit of an authentic self” and this was a realisation that it was time to pursue his passion and learn more about a material that he felt a strong connection with: Rubber.

UNTITLEDrubber Ivo Mittelmeijer Ivo Mittelmeijer is the soul behind UNTITLEDrubber

However, Mittelmeijer’s fashion roots and creativity extend back to his childhood. “I was already creative as a boy. My mother was a seamstress and my grandmother sewed ballroom dresses for the Mittelmeijer Dancing School in Amsterdam.”, Ivo tells us. Growing up in the small beachside village of Egmond, the designer knew that his artistry and expressiveness would not be fulfilled and so, shortly after completing his HAVO (the Dutch education system prepares students to study higher professional education under this banner) qualifications, he enrolled in the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) and followed in his mother’s footsteps, who had previously studied at the Montaigne Academy, now part of the AMFI.

Ivo studied at AMFI for two years during which his “creativity blossomed”, something which is visibly clear in his future designs. This led him to greater achievements. “I was admitted to ARTeZ in Arnhem on the advice of Astrid van Engelen because I was creative in a different way.” Ivo continued, “And with good results, because in my senior year I won the first prize of Lichting 2007 and was voted the best graduate of all academies in the Netherlands that year.”

His skills and talent did not go unnoticed. Leading Benelux communication & creation agency SPICE came knocking at his door, promoting the newly qualified designer free of charge (surely confirmation of the incredible up-and-coming talent they saw in Ivo) and his design aptitude was soon in high demand. “I have been able to make things for the Amsterdam Museum, Zuiderzee Museum and Introdans”, he tells us. But Ivo soon came to understand this was not the career path he wanted to take. “I quickly discovered that fashion wasn’t it because I had something different to explore with clothes”, he explained, in what was clearly a defining moment in his life.

His eyes were opened working and patronising the bars and clubs of Amsterdam. It was at this point in his career that he realised “Hey, there’s another side to clothing”. A chance to meet photographer René Zuiderveld opened his eyes further to what could be achieved and what was possible. Soon enough, René introduced Ivo to the owners of RoB Amsterdam and it was at this point that Mittelmeijer discovered his passion. “It finally brought me to myself and I started doing what was deep within me”, Ivo told us, continuing “I’d been to Berlin a lot to order rubber clothing and suddenly I thought; ‘this is what I have to do.’”

UNTITLEDrubber Ivo Mittelmeijer Ivo’s skill with latex was learned through many years of experience

Then came the Covid pandemic. Ivo described 2020 as “a year that allowed us all the time and space to think about our way of living.” In one of these moments, he was brought back to that November dinner. An epiphany hit the designer as he realised that all the skills, connections, and people he had encountered over the years had allowed him to build up “a broad network through my education and work experiences in Amsterdam and Berlin. People who support you and promote you, who think along with you and who want to help you because of what you do and who you are. Looking back on it, it’s nice that this all came my way unplanned.” From that moment on he knew that his goal was to build a latex brand which encompassed “his minimalist aesthetic, distinct style and unique finishes.”

His journey to the launch of his own latex brand took time, some three years in total, and came with many challenges. “We all know or expect that building a brand is never a smooth, linear journey. We face curveballs and make tough decisions along the way” Ivo commented to us, “but despite facing challenges in the first three years while starting a rubber brand in a tiny 10-square-metre studio, we have now successfully created a brand that opposes preconceptions and established norms. We have discovered new ways to showcase our unique style and strong signature.”

It’s clear that the design choices made by UNTITLED are a conscious decision. “My style is monochromatic, which means one colour. So if the choice is bright yellow, everything goes in bright yellow, preferably including shoes.” Ivo tells us. “There is room for expansion in this market and that is great to make more hearts beat faster together.”, he continues, “Rubber is currently making a big leap. People no longer just wear it as a fetish or from a sexual point of view, but for expression and it really dawned on me in Berlin’s nightlife that it can be done differently.”

Officially launched in February 2024, at the brands new home in Dokter Jan van Breemenstraat, Amsterdam, latex aficionado, and UNTITLEDrubber cohort, Latex Peach took to her Instagram profile to show off a number of the creations from their first capsule collection.

This was followed a week later by the Main Launch during Darklands in Antwerp.

So how does Ivo now feel that the toil of the labour has come to fruition? “We have found our voice and discovered that we create in order to push boundaries in both the fetish and fashion worlds”, he states. With a clear vision and a strong future ahead of the brand he plans that UNTITLEDrubber will “always evolve, experiment and continue challenging ourselves to blaze a trail for those who don’t want to be confined.” In an attempt to explore the openness of latex fashion, the brand holds an open studio event every last Saturday of the month, no appointment required.

And finally, on that choice of name? “The only thing left was finding a name that embodies freedom and leaves room for everyone’s authentic self. We want people to connect a part of themselves to our brand without feeling constrained by preexisting ideas or someone else’s identity. We want people to find themselves in our gear. That is why we needed a name that gives space for everyone.”

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves!

A Deep Dive into Style: Leather vs. Latex with Jheanelle Corine, Featuring Simon O

      news.movim.eu / Latex247 • 7 March, 2024 • 5 minutes

Welcome to a comprehensive exploration of the captivating world of fashion, where we not only scrutinize the age-old debate of “Leather Pants vs. Latex – Which Fit Best?” but also shine a spotlight on the rising star, Jheanelle Corine. As a burgeoning force in Hollywood filmmaking and a trailblazing latex fashion influencer, Jheanelle takes centre stage in her latest YouTube style guide, this time modelling two different pairs of derriere-enhancing leggings. First, a beautiful black leather moto pant made by Shacullfites, complete with quilted details and sexy silver zippers. Then juxtaposed against legendary latex brand, Simon O’s , butt-lifting black leggings. Corine doesn’t fail to amaze in her latest release, and the information offered is extremely useful with spring fashion just around the corner. Join us on this extended journey as we delve into the intricacies of materials, the art of fashion modelling, and the unique charm brought by Jheanelle Corine to the realm of style education.

Part 1: The Leather vs. Latex Conundrum

Our fashion education odyssey begins with an immersive review of two iconic materials – leather and latex. Meticulously comparing the characteristics, styling options, and comfort levels of leather pants and latex, we embark on a journey designed to provide not only insights but a comprehensive understanding for fashion enthusiasts. With Jheanelle Corine as our guide, we navigate the rich history and evolution of these materials within the fashion landscape, exploring their cultural and fashion significance.

Leather, a more commonplace material, has been used for clothing applications since the dawn of time (most likely due to its durability, warmth, and time-honoured hide tanning traditions that have been passed down through generations.) Leather is a sensual material, and can be supple to the touch if it is well-maintained. Thus it has also become synonymous with haute couture and luxury goods; whether for shoes, bags, coats, or travel accessories. Though latex is not nearly as durable, or heat insulating, it is an equally luxurious and perhaps even more eye-catching material.

A Deep Dive into Style: Leather vs. Latex with Jheanelle Corine, Featuring Simon O

Latex is rather new to the scene and was only utilized as a clothing material in the 1950s when the rubber catsuit was invented. It quickly took hold in the fashion industry and became a favourite of 1970s British designers like Vivienne Westwood. Latex continues to be popular for celebrities and fashion enthusiasts alike due to its skin-tight stretch, high gloss shine, and flattering ability to emphasize curves on the body. For all these reasons an investigation of both materials is essential, and we’re pleased to see creator Jheanelle Corine take on the challenge.

A significant addition to the video is Jheanelle herself, who steps beyond the role of the influencer to share her personal experiences with leather and latex. As a Hollywood filmmaker with a penchant for avant-garde fashion, Jheanelle brings a unique perspective to the material debate, infusing the discussion with her own narrative and experiences.

Part 2: The Simon O Brand and Jheanelle Corine as a Fashion Model

Transitioning seamlessly into the spotlight, we turn our attention to the renowned clothing brand “Simon O.” This time, our exploration is not confined to the brand’s aesthetic and craftsmanship alone – we also dissect the brand through the lens of Jheanelle Corine as a fashion model. What better way to understand the nuances of a clothing line than through the lens of someone who not only appreciates fashion but actively contributes to its narrative?

Jheanelle Corine’s role as a fashion model adds a layer of authenticity and personal connection to the brand review. We examine how the clothing brand complements her individual style, exploring the synergy between the brand’s identity and Jheanelle’s own expressive fashion choices. Corine pairs the Simon O. leggings with a timeless classic, a black and white Balmain logo ringer tee. The shirt is perfectly cropped and can obviously be worn as is, but Jheanelle chooses to amplify the appeal by knotting the t-shirt just above her diaphragm. Jheanelle wears what we believe are her favourite heels, an elegant pair of clear and black mules. The shoes, Jheanelle later confirms, are by Jessica Rich, a local Los Angeles fashion brand founded by an incredible black businesswoman. This segment aims to provide readers with a deeper understanding of the interplay between a fashion influencer’s personal style and the brands they choose to represent.

A Deep Dive into Style: Leather vs. Latex with Jheanelle Corine, Featuring Simon O

Part 3: The Educational Journey with Jheanelle Corine

As we traverse the educational landscape of fashion, Jheanelle Corine emerges not only as an influencer and fashion model but also as the dynamic host of our style exploration. Beyond the material comparison and brand spotlight, we delve into Jheanelle’s role as a guide, educator, and storyteller. Her experience in Hollywood filmmaking infuses the video with a cinematic flair, transforming it into more than just a style guide – it becomes a visual narrative.

Jheanelle’s unique approach to style education involves more than just showcasing clothes; it’s an immersive experience where viewers are invited into her world, witnessing firsthand the creative process behind her fashion choices. We love to explore the dynamic nature of Jheanelle’s hosting, shedding light on how her storytelling abilities elevate the educational content beyond the ordinary. Most importantly, we have to highlight the gorgeous use of light and colour in each and every one of Corine’s videos. A trend which is heavily on display in this latest lush, mauve-toned stylist’s dream.

A Deep Dive into Style: Leather vs. Latex with Jheanelle Corine, Featuring Simon O

In conclusion, our extended exploration into “ Leather Pants vs. Latex – Which Fit Best? ” accompanied by a spotlight on the Simon O brand and featuring the dynamic Jheanelle Corine has been an enlightening journey through the multifaceted world of fashion. Jheanelle’s role as a fashion model and host adds layers of authenticity and narrative richness to the content, transforming it into an educational experience that goes beyond the superficial.

As we continue to unravel the boundless realms of fashion, let’s celebrate the synergy of materials, brands, and the unique flair brought by influencers like Jheanelle Corine. Avellano Reveals New AW24 Collection at Paris Fashion Week

      news.movim.eu / Latex247 • 6 March, 2024 • 3 minutes

Paris Fashion Week showcases the pinnacle of fashion couture, from brands such as YSL and Loewe , and for the past few years Parisian based latex designer Avellano has presented their upcoming collections with this year being no different as the brand revealed their AW24 Ready-to-wear range.

Did you know that Latex24/7 has its very own YouTube channel? Subscribe now for instant access to upcoming shiny latex clothing content.

The new ready-to-wear Autumn-Winter 2024 collection further extended Avellano’s influence and presence in the latex clothing industry, showcasing a mature and confident range of garments, some of which were clearly “playing it safe” (such as loosely fitting shirts and trousers) whilst others pushed the boundaries of the material with astrakan effects on items such as the designers black blazer jacket. This texture somewhat masks the shiny nature of rubber but provides a versatility and acceptance many other latex garments struggle to receive.

Avellano launches new AW24 latex collection at Paris Fashion Week The new AW24 Latex collection from Avellano featured astrakan effect latex

With a pallete of blacks, whites and greens, garments were presented in both solid, textured and semi-transparent latex allowing for a collection to suit all occassions. But it was collaboration with an unlikely partner which caught much attention. The collection features a number of bomber and puffer jackets, which was created as part of an outerwear partnership with Europeran arm of American apparel company Schott . Although Avellano had long desired to investigate this category, independent development proved to be too expensive and difficult in the end.

The highlight of the AW24 show was, without a doubt, the appearance of Avellano muse Noah Cyrus who was recently featured on the French designers SS24 campaign as well a recent appearance in MARVIN Magazine . The finale ensemble, an off-the-shoulder gown with a 10-metre train, was her most stunning choice of clothing. This striking piece was made of latex which Avellano had thinned down to a satin-like appearance.

Mich Dulce: Pushing Boundaries with Latex and Tradition

      news.movim.eu / Latex247 • 4 March, 2024 • 2 minutes

Mich Dulce is a multifaceted Filipina creative, born in 1981. Most recognized as a fashion designer and milliner, she blends sustainable, ethical materials with traditional European techniques to craft contemporary hats and headpieces. Her work has graced prestigious runways like London and Paris Fashion Week , and been worn by celebrities like Lady Gaga and Celine Dion.

Did you know that Latex24/7 has its very own YouTube channel? Subscribe now for instant access to upcoming shiny latex clothing content.

Mich Dulce, born Michelle Dianne Lopez Dulce is primarily known as a fashion designer and milliner, but her artistry extends far beyond fashion. A champion for social causes, she uses her platform to advocate for positive change. She’s also a multifaceted artist, lending her voice to bands, exploring acting, and even venturing into the world of visual arts. This diverse talent, coupled with her unwavering commitment to ethical practices, cements Dulce’s position as a unique and influential voice in the creative realm. Her journey transcends the boundaries of fashion, leaving an undeniable mark on the cultural landscape.

With her designs worn by entrepenuer Rissa Mananquil Trillo and singer, actress, television presenter and songwriter Karylle , Mich Dulce has gained notoriety amongst the Filipina people.

But for her recent collection, entitled “Reimagining the Amish”, Mich has taken inspiration from an unlikely source as her work has begun to be noticed outside of her native country. Speaking to Filipino based fashion magazine MEGA , Dulce speaks about her clear adoration of the Amish culture. “I’ve always been fascinated with the Amish and their restrictions in terms of dress—that they are only allowed to wear certain colors and styles,” Dulce explains. “I guess I find working with limitations interesting and inspiring!”.

It’s the mix of these traditional flowing fabrics with latex which has sparked the most interest – something which is not generally considered Amish “friendly”. Keen to include a material that has not had as much interest in her native Philippines, Michelle described her wish to include a unique material. I have always been a fan of craft that other people or other designers don’t do,” Dulce shares. “So latex was kind of like that—no one was doing it here so I decided to learn it.”

It’s this combination of shiny, smooth latex with rougher linen and cotton which provides a strong contrast. Whilst many latex garments are generally tight and designed to show off the wearers curves, Mich Dulce’s designers are flowing and loose providing a different aesthetic, thanks to the dresses and aprons which form large parts of the collection.

With such a unique approach to the inclusion of latex apparel, we look forward to seeing what Mich Dulce produces in the future.
